An Stíl Mar A Bhí

An Stíl Mar A Bhí are a group of local singers, dancers, musicians, poets and storytellers who come together two or three times a year to perform at the Áras. Their performances celebrate all things Gaelach and are a truly wonderful occasion in the home. Cead míle buchos to all these wonderful volunteers who have brought such joy to the home in their many performances over the years.

Below are reports from An Stíl Mar a Bhí's concerts in recent years.

An Stíl Mar A Bhí summer concert At 3p.m. on 7th June 2013 a performance celebrating all things 'Gaelach' took place in the Áras.  As the weather was glorious – sun shone high in the sky – it was decided that this event should take place in the courtyard.  A total of 10 performers (singers, dancers, musicians, poets and storytellers)  joined us for what was a lovely concert celebrating 'The Style That Was'.  This performance was a mixture of traditional music, sean nós dancing, sean nós singing, poetry recitals and story telling.  24 of our residents attended and enjoyed this wonderful event.  The performers came from far and near – Spiddal, Inverin, Lettermore, Rosmuc, Cill Chiaráin and Carna!   During the performance our residents enjoyed ice-creams and refreshments.  This added immensely to the event as some of our residents said they felt like they 'were on holidays'! These performers always enjoy their time in the Áras as they get a great reaction from residents and staff alike.   This was a most enjoyable event for our residents thanks you to Cairde Áras Chois Fharraige for funding the event.
