Gradam Áras Chois Fharraige
Each year the Áras, together with Údarás na Gaeltachta, funds several nursing bursaries for native Irish speakers. Since 2010 the Gradam Áras Chois Fharraige has awarded grants of nearly €20,000 to local young people embarking on a career in nursing . The closing date for this year's Gradam is September 30th, 2016.

The Director of Nursing oversees a Care Team of eight nurses and 27 health care assistants (including nine students nurses). The Áras has some of the best healthcare outcomes of any nursing home in Ireland evidenced by:
* an exceptionally low falls rate (one-third of the national average)
* an exceptionally low incidence of pressure sores
* the home has never had an outbreak of an infectious disease
