Around the Áras
Every part of the Áras was designed to maximise the living experience for residents. This led to the home winning the nationwide LAMA award for best private nursing home.
All have spacious wheelchair accessible en-suites, wall-mounted televisions and phone connection. You are invited to personalise your room with furniture and pictures and if you don’t like the colour we are happy to repaint it to your taste.
Award-winning design
The inner courtyard is a safe and sheltered outdoor experience for residents. It is also used for the summer BBQ and Halloween party, as well as music sessions and other events.
Most weekly activities such as bingo, cards, chair-aerobics, ceol, film night etc, take place in the sitting room beside the river. When more space is needed for shows and parties the upstairs sitting room is used.
The sun walkway offers breathtaking over Galway Bay. It is the perfect place to meet relatives and friends, read the paper or just relax and enjoy the beautiful view.

The Áras has a variety of multi-purpose communal areas, two dining rooms, two sitting rooms, reading room, spacious reception area adjoining courtyard and two roof terraces.
